Minimalist Package for November Academic Writing Month
Support for committing to writing and staying by your own side + light check-ins for witnessing and accountability.
A resonant challenge before the end of the year
Imagine stepping up your commitment to your writing during the whole month of November.
What projects would love some care and attention?
What goals could you try to reach?
How would it feel to reach the end of the year having stretched yourself in this way?
Enter November Academic Writing Month
“November Academic Writing Month” (#AcWriMo) is an invitation to academics everywhere to make a push with their writing during the month of November.
There are different approaches to this, but the basics always are:
- The one-month duration gives the “stepping-up” a clear beginning and end.
- Knowing there are others out there also making a special commitment to writing during November creates a sense of solidarity.
This package
This package supports you in making a push with your writing this November by keeping you connected with:
- your intentions,
- your courage,
- your ability to make wise choices, and
- your self-compassion.
We’ll use a version of the goals, points and prizes system created by political scientist Mirya Holman (her newsletter).
Over the past four years, as I’ve used this approach myself and introduced it to my clients, I have adapted it to align with my coaching philosophy and understanding of how best to support the nervous system.
The result is a set-up that helps you consciously balance discomfort and comfort, calls forth your courage and self-compassion, and keeps you connected to the possibilities available each day.
The other crucial component of this package is a weekly check-in, which allows you to share the ups and downs of your writing experience with me and others throughout the month.
What's included
- A template for setting and tracking your goals during November, and for acknowledging your own effort as you go.
- A design and Q&A session to help you set up your goals as a virtuous cycle of courageous action and compassionate self-accompaniment — calibrated for how you work best and for your circumstances.
- The design & Q&A session takes place live via Zoom on 26 October 2026 from 4 till 5.15PM CEST and will also be recorded.
- Three check-ins on 6, 13 and 20 November, via Signal or email, for sharing your progress and moments of courage and compassion to have these warmly witnessed.
- A closing session to acknowledge and celebrate your achievements, reflections and learning.
- The closing session takes place live via Zoom on 30 November 2026 from 4 till 5 PM CET and will also be recorded.
Note : This whole process is largely self-guided: you have to design your own goals and rewards and keep engaged with them throughout November. I’ll help you get set up and the check-ins provide a light structure for witnessing and accountability. And yet, even a light touch like this can make a real difference in helping you feel supported and anchored in your intentions.
