Open path

More and more you are discovering about academic work and life. What you love and don’t. What you’re good at and what not. Where you shine brightly and where you’re holding back. You know that what you do now matters for the future, and also that this is a marathon you’re running, not a sprint – you don’t want to burn yourself out. Planting the seeds for what you’re going to do and who you’re going to be several years from now excites you. You’re hopeful about academia but not naive. You want to be in the academic world but not of it.

You will come away with greater personal skillfulness for developing a portfolio of work that you’ll love, that you’ll be proud of, that you can build on. With more confidence about cutting through the noise on the inside and the outside. With a greater sense of personal direction for navigating your way.

“Coaching with Catelijne allowed me to reconnect with what I value most about being a researcher, and to get a different perspective on what I was struggling with. This helped me write with greater focus and purpose, and gave me some wind in my back to finish my PhD.”

Let’s talk first

Hiring your own coach is already part of the process of building an empowered relationship with academia.

Your coach is someone you choose to support you. You want this to be a wholehearted choice, based on confidence and excitement about my way of working and our interpersonal dynamic. Based on a real sense that I can hold a supportive and empowering space for you through ups and downs. That our relationship will make a genuine difference to your personal and professional life and will be worth your investment of time, energy and money.

For this to be possible, we have to meet and talk first, and do some actual coaching as part of that exploratory meeting. This meeting will give both of us a good indication of whether the vibe is right. And whether there’s a fit between what I offer and what you’re truly looking for.

This exploratory session is confidential. It is free of charge. It doesn’t oblige you to go forward. It’s designed that way because I want you to be confident in your choice. And because it is in my interest, too, to have clients who are a good fit for me and whom I am confident I can support.

Approach to charging and affordability

A conversation about fees is normally part of my exploratory coaching session. Starting prices….

Coaching is an investment worth considering at times when you feel strongly that something needs to change. When you are ready to look at your life more deeply than you normally would, and commit more strongly to what matters to you.

I will not turn you away for money reasons if you are truly interested in and ready for coaching with me, and we are a good fit.
