If you are looking for a way to engage with your writing that is individually-tuned, self-compassionate and joyful, then this workshop is for you.
Most of us don’t think about writing as involving our bodies. If we do, it’s usually at the level of ergonomic desk arrangements and reminders to get up and walk or stretch. But the way we habitually approach our writing is practised in and through the body. Because of this, we can influence our writing by influencing how we carry ourselves, and how we move.
What to expect
This online workshop is participatory and practice-oriented. You will leave having done some actual writing. You’ll also take away experiential insights into how your body can be an ally for your writing – insights you can implement in your life right away.
The workshop will invite you to participate in:
- some talking and sharing
- an extended non-athletic movement practice, for which we’ll use the four elements of Earth, Water, Fire and Air as a structure
- a 15-minute interval of quiet time so you can bring your chosen embodiment to your writing
You can bring any article, chapter, proposal, review, etc. you’d like to make some progress with. You’ll be at choice throughout about the nature and extent of your engagement, whether you have your camera on or off, etc.
